Q & A on SMS presentation venue at Blk 831 Hougang Central #01-502

Q: What facilities are available at the Hougang Central venue ?
A: The Hougang Central venue located on the ground floor of Blk 831 is owned by a registered charity: 'Golden Years Day Care Centre for the Elderly' http://www.goldenyears.org.sg, of which our SMS President Mr John Yap is the Executive Director there. It is a large air-conditioned hall with seating capacity of up to 60 persons, and is equipped with in-house toilets, hot & cold water machine, broadband connection, LCD projector, projector screen and white board.

Q: How do we make our way to the Hougang Central venue ?
A: It is located very near to the Hougang MRT Station (on the North-East Line) and Hougang bus interchange (approximately 5 minutes walk). Members can get there speedily by MRT or by major bus services from various parts of Singapore. Please check http://www.transitlink.com.sg for the bus numbers.

Q: I will drive to the Hougang Central venue. Is it easy to find a parking lot ?
A: There is a HDB multi-storey car park in the adjacent Blk 830A, as well as open lots at Blk 831 and the nearby HDB blocks.

Q: Will the 'coffee corner', and Linux CD library still be available at the Hougang Central venue ?
A: Yes, they are. In addition, an unlimited adsl broadband line owned by 'Golden Years' will be available for our use every Friday evening. Our Committee member Mr Hung Khee Hua has made available his spare 'Tecom AR1021 adsl ethernet modem' and 'Linksys 802.11b 4-port wireless router' for use by the presenter/speaker.

Members who bring along their wifi-enabled PDAs and laptops can have free access to the Internet to check email and surf the web.

From January 2007, we have added a library of Stock Market books which our members can borrow.
